structure, the one strip being formed with corrugations trending generally axially of thematrix and with substantial depth radially of the matrix to separate radially the turns ofthe other strip and to define fluid flow passages through the corrugations, thecorrugations including a repeatable pattern of a first plurality of corrugations havingequally curved ridges and hollows of a predetermined amplitude and a second set ofcorrugations including at least one ridge and one hollow of a reduced amplitude ascompared to the amplitude of the first plurality of corrugations.
