摘要：A cash dispensing mechanism (20) of an automated teller machine (ATM)includes a safe (40a) inside which are housed first and second units (42,44). The first unit(42) includes currency cassettes (50) and an associated pick mechanism (52). Currency
notes are transported from the pick mechanism to a validator (58) included in the firstunit. If a note is rejected then a divert gate directs the note into a purge bin (62) alsoincluded in the first unit. The second unit (44) is mounted on the first unit with one of twopossible orientations depending on whether the cash dispensing mechanism has a frontloading or a rear loading configuration. Notes accepted by the validator (58) aretransported upwardly from the first unit (42) and to the second unit (44) via a singletransfer station (61), regardless of whether the cash dispensing mechanism has a front orrear loading configuration. The second unit transports notes received from the first unitto a dispensing port (65) of the safe.
