Part 1 Introduction

1.1 Motivation :

A few days ago, in order to improve the students' k

nowlege of calligraphy and increase students' interest in Chinese calligraphy, our school had conducted a calligraphy class.We took part in the calligraphy class and it attracted us. We show interest

in the art of Chinese calligraphy. All we think the Chinese calligraphy can help us enjoy the life better.

1.2 Purpose

1. To learn and enjoy the Art of Chinese calligraphy.

2. To know the way to write good calligraphy by this presentation . 3. To

improve

the

students’

knowledge

of

calligraphy and increase students' interest in Chinese calligraphy.

4. To call for more students to learn Chinese calligraphy.

1.3 Methods

Collect some information about the brush calligraphy and the hard

calligraphy. Such as, the origin, the classification, the calligraphers. Interview the calligraphy teacher about his opinion of the Chinese calligraphy. Find the video about the Chinese calligraphy.

1.4 Significance

It not only help us learn about the art of Chinese calligraphy but also cultivate our taste. And

improve the students' knowledge of calligraphy and increase students' interest in Chinese calligraphy.

Part 2 Research Backgrounds

1.Nowadays, Chinese calligraphy is not so popular with student. But it is our unique traditional art ,and we have the duty to protect and develop it.

2.A few days ago, in order to improve the students' knowlege of calligraphy and increase students' interest in Chinese calligraphy, our school had conducted a calligraphy class.We took part in the calligraphy class ,in this class ,we know a lot of things about calligraphy which we didn't knew before.Such as the history about calligraphy ,the kind of calligraphy,how to write a beautiful handwriting. Through this calligraphy class ,we got a lot of happiness.So we want to know the other student's feeling about Chinese calligraphy,we want to if their can got some happiness through Chinese calligraphy.

Part 3 Case Study

3.1

We search for information about the development of Chinese calligraphy and some beautiful pictures of Chinese calligraphy.

3.2

We asked 30 students to help us do the survey. We asked them three questions.

Questionnaire:

①Do you like Chinese calligraphy? A. Yes

B. No idea C. Unlike

②What do you think you handwriting? A. Very good B. Just so so C. Bad

③Whether you want to calligraphy class? A. Yes

B. Never mind C. No

D. Yes, but it is hard to persistence

JUN KAI, who is a teacher teaching Chinese calligraphy in our school.

Part 4 Analysis

4.1The history of Chinese calligraphy

Chinese calligraphy has a long history: there were inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the SHANG dynasty. In the ZHOU dynasty, there appeared JINWEN which was inscripted on ancient bronze objects. Then the Weston ZHOU dynasty used the seal script and small seal script. At that time, there were more than one word. Until QIN dynasty unificated the whole country, YINGZHENG decided to use the small seal script. With the development of the small seal script, there appeared many kinds styles of calligraphy. And official script, cursive script, regular script and running script were popular in HAN dynasty. After that, China went into a strong and rich period. It is TANG dynasty, and at that time, there appeared some great calligraphers, such as: YAN ZHEN QING, OU YANG XUN, LIU GONG QUAN, ZHANG XU, HUA SU, and left many great works. The best running hand is THE PREFACE OF LANTING POEMS COLLECTION writed by WANG XI ZHI. The second is YAN ZHEN QING’s work. He writed to hold a memorial ceremony for his nephew dead for a war. He writed it under the extremely sad mood, so the words with his emotion ups and down. It’s pure spiritual peace of natural language. It is a great historical value and artistic value of one of the original ink.

4.2 The analysis of questionnaire

1. From the first question, we known that, 56% Students

interested in calligraphy, 7% Don't like calligraphy, 37% Student has no feeling for calligraphy. Using this data, we can see that, more than half of the students are interested in calligraphy, suggesting calligraphy occupies a very important position in the minds of college students, but also a small number of students not interested in calligraphy and even don't like calligraphy, so we think that schools should strengthen the popularization of calligraphy, showing the calligraphy charm.

2.Following two questions are on the student’s views of handwriting and whether students willing to go to a calligraphy lessons to learn Chinese calligraphy. From the second one, we know that there are 3% students believe their handwriting very well, 43% of students that their handwriting just so so, there is a lot of space to improve, there are 54% students believe their handwriting so bad. More than half of the students do not like their handwriting. We think this may be because the students in the usual writing process only for speed does not pay attention to fonts, so we think calligraphy class is very

important, because after you study calligraphy, even you write very quickly, but you can also write nice words.

3. However, when we ask whether you want to calligraphy class,

turned out to be more than 50% students are willing to learn Chinese calligraphy, but find it difficult to persistence. We think the reason is that students have a lot of pressure, and it is hard to find time to practice calligraphy, so it is hard to persistence.

4.3 the result of the interview:

.Mr.Tang used many beautiful words to descript it in Chinese ,we summarized it as follows: • It’s a unique traditional art. • It’s a kind of emotional expression. • It is a way to cultivate one's morality .

Part 5 Conclusion

Through these surveys, we can know that most of the students are willing to learn calligraphy, but due to a lot of reasons, they don’t know calligraphy -the traditional culture of the Chinese very much. So, we think, the government can increase the propaganda of the Chinese calligraphy show the charm of calligraphy, let more students to learn calligraphy, love of calligraphy. For schools, we should set up calligraphy class, calligraphy exchange activities, and promote students to develop a good writing habits. To sum up, for calligraphy of the traditional culture, we need to more efforts to promote and develop.
