每年农历七月初七的七夕节,简称七夕,俗称乞巧节,是中国传统节日中最具浪漫色彩的个节日。传说每年的七月初七是牛郎、织女相会的日子。在这一天,人间的喜鹊(magpie)飞到天上去,为牛郎和织女搭一座鹊桥,好让二人渡过天河相见。在这一天的晚上,如果静地躲在葡萄架下,就能听到牛郎、织女说的悄悄话。

The Double-Seventh Festival, called Qi xi for short, falls on the seventh day of the seventh mon on the Chinese lunar calendar. It is also known as “the Begging Festival”, and it is a traditional Chnese festival full of romance. According to the legend, Niu lang(Cowherd) and Zhi nv(Weaver Mai get together on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month every year. On this day, all the magpis will fly into the heaven and form a bridge so that these two loving birds might come together, people can hear the loving whispers between Niu lang and Zhi nv if they hide quietly under

the grape trellis.

Culture festival is the best medium for people of different countries to understand each other. Through culture festivals, many cities in China have become known overseas. Wonderful folk singing and dancing and delicious local food are the most effective ways to promote the communication

The Duanwu Festival, also called the Dragon Boat Festival, is to commemorate the

patriotic poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan was a loyal and highly esteemed/respected minister, who brought peace and prosperity to the state but ended up drowning

himself in a river as a result of being vilified. People got to the spot by boat and cast glutinous dumplings into the water, hoping that the fishes ate the dumplings instead of Qu Yuan’s body. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by dumplings and dragon boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes.
