China has the largest rice cultivation areas and consumption in the world. In recent years, the country's wild rice has been facing the risk of resource depletion and extinction because of human activities.

The new field gene bank will mainly contain wild rice species from the plateau to ensure the diversity of relevant species.

China on November 10 began the 37th Antarctic expedition as Chinese research icebreaker Xuelong 2, or Snow Dragon 2, set off from Shanghai.

The scientific expedition will carry out hydrological, meteorological and environmental investigations in the south pole and monitor new pollutants

such as microplastics and drifting garbage in the Antarctic Ocean. It will also carry supply and rotational staff to China's Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station in the region.

11月10日，中国科考破冰船“雪龙2”号从上海启程，开始了第37次南极科学考察之行。

本次考察计划开展南极水文气象、生态环境等科学调查工作，并监测南大洋的微塑料、海漂垃圾等新型污染物，同时还将开展南极中山站、长城站越冬人员轮换及物资补给工作。

A new guideline, jointly issued by the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance, asked universities and research institutes to intensify their efforts to crack down on academic misconduct.

According to the guideline, postgraduate students who commit fraud in their graduation dissertations or theses will be recorded in the national social credit system.

Academic integrity should be an important part of postgraduate education and training for supervisors, and dissertation writing guidance

should be compulsory for all students, the guideline said.

Construction of a high-purity crystalline silicon production project worth 4 billion yuan has started in Yunnan Province. The project is located in an industrial and trade park of Baoshan City.

Covering more than 46 hectares in the first stage, the plant will be operational in 2021 with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tonnes.

High-purity crystalline silicon is mainly used for manufacturing photovoltaic cells and semiconductors. Yunnan's rich hydropower resources are important for high-purity crystalline silicon production.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement was signed among its 15 participating countries on November 15, launching the world's biggest free trade bloc. Participating countries include the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

Covering a market of 2.27 billion people and a combined GDP of 26.2 trillion U.S. dollars, the RCEP signatories, which account for about one third of the world's economy, will become a large integrated market, thus injecting impetus into regional and global economic growth.

The signing of the RCEP is not only a landmark achievement of East Asian regional cooperation, but also a victory of multilateralism and free trade. The RCEP agreement will accelerate the building of the ASEAN economic community and thereby allow ASEAN to become dynamic and strong partners in promoting cooperation for shared prosperity.
